CelebNMovies247.com has the latest happenings on Star Wars Toys that have been getting highly criticized…
If you’re a HUGE fan of Star Wars The Force Awakens then if you go out to buy any of the merchandise, you definitely want a Rey. The only problem with Hasbro, is that they left Daisy Ridley’s protagonist character out of their Star Wars set.
And to make matters worse, the toy company used a classic poor excuse!
“We love your passion for Rey, and are happy to share that we will be including her in the Monopoly: Star Wars game, available later this year.”
Once The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams caught wind of the debacle, he weighed in on Hasbro. Leaving Rey out of the Monopoly Star Wars set was uncalled for according to Abrams.
In fact, the Star Wars director didn’t take kind to Hasbro saying that they didn’t want to give away vital plot details with their official tie-in Monopoly set.
JJ started “quickly making phone calls” to Hasbro. Then, Abrams replied by saying in an effort to rectify the issue:
“It seems preposterous and wrong that the main character of the movie is not well-represented in what is clearly a huge piece of the Star Wars world, in terms of merchandising.”
“It doesn’t quite make sense to me why she wouldn’t be there – she’s somewhat important in the story.”
Whatever he did seemed to work as Hasbro announced on Wednesday (January 6) that Rey will be included in an upcoming version of the game.
Fans have also previously criticised the film’s official merchandise after Rey was excluded from a Force Awakens toy set.
