Could it have been the direction of Phil Lord and Chris Miller? Their daily have been said to be an Ace Ventura-esque style film? Now Alden Ehrenreich performance basically sucks! Read on…
They parted ways, but the damage with Alden Ehrenreich performance had already been done. LucasFilms apparently hired acting coaches to mentor leading actor after studio bosses became unsatisfied with the performance that they had received in the dailies.
The Hollywood Reporter claims:
LucasFilms is “Not entirely satisfied with the performance that the directors were eliciting from Rules Don’t Apply star Alden Ehrenreich, Lucasfilm decided to bring in an acting coach. Hiring a coach is not unusual; hiring one that late in production is.”
Hollywood veteran Ron Howard will now helm the film and repair the damage done. The film is still set for a 2018 May release. Despite their departure a source claims that the material that they have already filmed is ‘very usable’. We previously reported that Ron Howard has already scheduled a month of re-shoots, so it sounds like the scenes filmed are NOT usable.
last week, Kathleen Kennedy said:
“At Lucasfilm, we believe the highest goal of each film is to delight, carrying forward the spirit of the saga that George Lucas began forty years ago. With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that Ron Howard will step in to direct the untitled Han Solo film. We have a wonderful script, an incredible cast and crew, and the absolute commitment to make a great movie. Filming will resume the 10th of July.”
One thing we have to commend is that George Lucas knew what he was doing when he left Kathleen Kennedy in charge of his legacy. She is incredible. Kathleen and LucasFilms will have to do some serious PR to fix this disaster, because this could kill the Star Wars Universe if things don’t get better.
