We are condemning Yorgos for his weird movie, but we find it interesting Alicia Silverstone is on board. Get the deets…
This should be a bold new step for Alicia Silverstone.
The film is about a surgeon who takes a sinister kid under his wing. Silverstone’s playing the kid’s mom. Maybe she’s sinister, too. I’m sure Lanthimos will ask all kind of strange stuff from her, and only ‘90s kids will care. But we will care so hard!
Colin Farrell is all we would need, that and a about 6+ figures. We think with Yorgos Lanthimos (After Dogtooth and The Lobster) should make for a very interesting and entertaining film.
It’s been a minute since we’ve seen the former Batgirl and hyper-mom Alicia Silverstone bitting her bottom lip on the left side and her quirky and charming acting style on film.
We wonder if former Alicia Silverstone will more like her obsessive character in The Crush, or if this will be something completely different.
What do you think?
A24 grabbed U.S. rights to the pic in Cannes this year after also taking on The Lobster from Alchemy. That film was a success in Cannes in 2015, winning the Jury Prize and later going on to gross $9M in the U.S. Lanthimos’ previous effort, Dogtooth, won the Un Certain Regard prize at the same festival in 2009. It further scored a Best Foreign Language Film Oscar nomination.
Lanthimos is producing The Killing Of A Sacred Deer which is also produced by Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe’s Element Pictures (Room). Film4, the Irish Film Board and New Sparta Films are backers. HanWay Films has worldwide sales. – Deadline
