It appears that Marvel has put eyes on the perfect actress to star in The Eternals, Angelina Jolie.

CelebNMovies247.com reports that Angelina Jolie is now signing up to be a part of The Eternals which is set up to be directed by Chloe Zhao (The Rider).

The Eternals will be a centuries-spanning romance that centers on the titular near-immortal beings and their monstrous genetic relatives, the Deviants.  The two lead characters will be the cosmic energy-powered Ikaris, and the powerful sorceress Sersi – though it’s unclear if either of these roles will ultimately belong to Jolie.

Rumors have been swirling around for years connecting Angelina Jolie to superhero film projects. The cool thing is that she will be heading back to what she does best, action movies if she signs on to The Eternals. The move to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is interesting, but it makes sense. This way she can rebuild her name since the split with Brad. He’s recovered from divorce, but she has yet made that leap back into a film where the audience loves her again. The MCU will give her that super celebrity draw she needs. NOT to mention her kids would love to see mom as an MCU star.

This year, we will get to see her back up on the big screen in the sequel Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, but it will be the first time we’ve seen her in the medium since 2015’s By The Sea.

The current state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future is a bit hush-hush. Which makes sense why Marvel Studios isn’t announcing any official plans until this summer. Though, we did offer a tentative projected MCU schedule recently to help show where The Eternals may land if the project begins shooting later this year. It is looking at a 2020 release like we previously reported.
