Why Batman Gave up on Religion Confirmed by DCU

Have you ever wondered if Batman actually believes in God?

Well, Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, the man who has fought gods, has been confirmed to be an atheist.

Are you shocked? Read on to see why DC has confirmed Batman is an atheist…

Why Batman Gave up on Religion Confirmed by DCUCelebNMovies247.com has the latest on one of the DCU’s biggest superheroes, Batman and his belief in religion are basically zero to none!

Why is Batman an atheist?

According to DC Comics, Batman/Bruce Wayne, he gave up on believing in God after Catwoman seriously screwed him up!

The events of this comic book issue take place shortly after Batman was left standing at the altar at his wedding to Catwoman. Since this devastating moment in his life, Bruce Wayne has taken a leave of absence from his cape and cowl to spend more time as Bruce Wayne. It was during this time that he talked to a rather religious woman while serving jury duty, where he clarified that he used to believe in God, but had since given religion up.

The genius billionaire went onto discuss how he had always seen The Dark Knight as a god, but had recently given up faith in the Caped Crusader. In short, Wayne has given up faith in himself as Batman, putting his character into a rather depressive state for the duration of the comic book.

In a recent interview with Los Angeles Daily News, Director Matt Reeves touched on the Batman franchise and the Planet of the Apes franchise. Both films were close to him growing up, so being a part of the projects means even more.

However, Here’s what he had to about both films:

It’s a strange thing to be involved in the two franchises which were the two that I was connected to most as a child. I just was obsessed with The Bat when I was a kid. What I find so interesting about him as a character is that, as far a superhero goes, he’s not superhuman, he is a person. And he is a tortured soul who is grappling with his past and trying to find a way to be in a world that has a lot that’s wrong with it and trying to find a way to reconcile all of that. That is a really powerful character, in the same way that Caesar is such a powerful character.

The Batman was set for a 2019 release, but we have an update on the DCU for 2019, which goes as follows:

  • Gotham City Sirens is coming around Valentine’s Day weekend
  • Nightwing will debut over Memorial Day weekend
  • Batgirl is set to arrive in August
  • The Batman is planned for November.

None of these has been confirmed by Warner Bros. or DC, but they make sense.
