It been reported that Cabin in the Woods star Fran Kranz has landed a part in the upcoming Dark Tower as Pimli, who the site describes as “right-hand man of the Man in Black.”
Pimli is a character who doesn’t show up until the last novel. Okay, we already know a lot of that stuff is going to get shoved into this first movie somehow. But describing Pimli as the Man in Black’s lackey is a bridge too far. Not only do we never see those two characters hang out, but I can’t recall the Man in Black ever having a right-hand man, really. This is an impressive triple-fucked.
Getting a movie version of The Dark Tower is exciting business, but the latest addition to the film sounds like it’s not going to be close to the novel at all. This is very disappointing.
Nathan Fillion was in the first Guardians of the Galaxy with a minor voice role as the blue-skinned alien who gave Peter Quill a rough time in the Kyln. this time Fillion returns for another small appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2., but photos leaked from the set reveal he’ll get to show his face this time around.
Just as footage from the Atlanta set leaked online revealing an Earthbound sequence, new photos now reveal a scene featuring the Simon Williams Film Festival. Comic book fans may recognize him as the alter-ego of Wonder Man, who began as a super-strong and invulnerable henchman for Baron Zemo (who’ll make his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War as played by Daniel Brühl) but later defected to the Avengers. The character may have started out as a scientist, but he eventually became an actor and stuntman.
The set photos from Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 reveal spoof movie posters featuring Fillion’s movie star Williams in titles like Häxan 2, which one might presume has some sequel-y ties to the 1922 silent film Häxan, though it’s a fictionalized documentary about witchcraft while this one promotes a tagline, “You’ll witch you never met him.” Other posters feature titles for the a rom-com called Oh, Rebecca, and a Tony Stark biopic.
The New Edition biopic will be a three-part mini movie on BET that the network announced at their upfront presentation on Wednesday. Gray is best known for his role as Hakeem Lyon on the blockbuster Fox drama, Gray will play Michael Bivins, one of the founders of the seminal boy band known for hits like “Cool It Now.”
The film follow New Edition in their hey day during the 70s and 80s. The miniseries is set to begin filming next month in L.A., and is set to debut on BET sometime in 2017.
