Elizabeth Banks is ready to bring back Charlie’s Angels in a big way. Read on about the upcoming reboot of the action-comedy…
In the early 2000s Charlie’s Angels got a campy modern reboot that was spot on mocking the TV series. The two films starred Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu. It was perfection.
Now, Elizabeth Banks is ready to bring back the girl power film and revive and refresh the original TV series that was TV Gold thanks to Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd, who replaced Fawcett after a few seasons.
it sounds like Banks is catering to Kristen Stewart’s grungy indie rock style for this film, but it sounds real close to Drew Barrymore’s take on her films.
We have faith in Elizabeth Bank’s. Currently, Stewart, Nyong’o, and several other big names are being eyed to play the female detectives, and secret agents in Sony’s Charlie’s Angels reboot reports Variety.
Banks is the first female director to tackle the female-led franchise after Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts created the five-season TV series in 1976. Drew Barrymore produced both remakes, but it was McG who directed the 2000 reboot and its sequel. This could be a perfect fit with a female director in the drivers seat this time.
They tried to do a TV series again in 2011 with Annie Ilonzeh, Minka Kelly, and Rachael Taylor, but the series was canceled after four episodes. It was horrible.
