Did The DC Shake-Up Basically "Create a Scapegoat"?

Despite the news that DC movie producer Jon Berg exits Warner Bros. means nothing except that he’s part of the DCEU shake up.

Did The DC Shake-Up Basically "Create a Scapegoat"?

We previously reported that DC movie producer Jon Berg has stepped down, but was this a news flash?

Apparently NOT, if you ask insider, Mario F Robles he has this to say about the DC Shake-Up:

“The way the @Variety report characterizes Geoff Johns’ role, moving forward, falls right in line with how I described it earlier today before they published this report. This was in response to a question about how things have evolved at DC Entertainment since February.”

Meanwhile it’s being said that a search is underway for Jon Berg’s replacement. Berg will instead become a production partner with Roy Lee, the producer of “The Lego Movie” and “It,” who has a deal on the lot.

Warner Bros. Picture Group President Toby Emmerich said in a statement to Variety:

“This is something that Jon approached me about six months ago, and he expressed his goal was to ultimately be a producer at the studio. I first met Jon when, as a producer, he brought ‘Elf’ to New Line, which remains one of the best and most evergreen titles in the library. We’re thrilled that Jon is partnering with Roy and anticipate their company being a valuable source of movies for Warner Bros. and New Line.”

But what does DC Shake-Up mean ?

Robles weighs in on Variety saying:

“He’s right. Variety misrepresents things. Johns and Berg came on once the #JusticeLeague train had left the station. And the “solo Flash featuring Batman” is Flashpoint. The piece is surprisingly lightweight, and doesn’t seem to grip the particulars. Disappointing.”

He adds the obvious answer about the situation:

“To borrow a sports analogy, this is the equivalent of firing a coach in the middle of a losing season. You throw this person out there as a sacrificial lamb so that your fans FEEL like you’re doing something. – You create a scapegoat.”

He concludes by stating:

“They know the Romans want to see blood, so they’ve chosen who the sacrifice will be. Beyond that, there’s not much to today’s Variety report that we didn’t already know.”
