Denis Villeneuve Confirms Blade Runner 2049 is Rated R

We just got word that Blade Runner 2049 is sticking to tradition and the films directors confirms that the sci-fi sequel is rated R!!!

Flip and get more details on Denis Villeneuve and Blade Runner 2049…

Denis Villeneuve Confirms Blade Runner 2049 is Rated R has just learned [via BMD] director Denis Villeneuve who revealed that Blade Runner 2049 will NOT be PG or PG-13.

Denis Villeneuve took to social media to tell fans:

“My producers are finding it fun to remind me that it will be one of the most expensive R-rated independent feature films ever made.”

It’s no shock to us, since the first movie had so much graphic violence and F-bombs. If they were to make the film a PG-13 it would be trash. It’s nice to see films keeping to the integrity of the content. PG-13 films may cater to a teen audience, but like most PG-13 films, they all lack authenticity when dealing with harsher scripts. It would be like going to see Friday The 13th with a rated PG-13…we would all know the movie is going to SUCK!

Not only will Blade Runner be rated R, it will hopefully be a first in a possible franchise boot. Villeneuve will not necessarily guarantee a better Blade Runner sequel, but he hopes to have a successful sequel so there can be more.

He also revealed:

“I’m doomed, I love sci-fi. I have two more ideas now that I would love to do. (And) Blade Runner could go on… we’ll see how this one goes.”

We will just have to wait and see how it plays out on October 6th, 2017.
