Director David Leitch Talks Hobbs and Shaw + Atomic Blonde 2CelebNMovies247.com has learned that director David Leitch decided to give an update on the progress of the Hobbs and Shaw starring Dwayne Johnson (Luke Hobbs) and Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw).

In The Fate of the Furious Hobbs, Toretto and Shaw found themselves teaming up to take down the bad guys and safe Dominic Toretto’s baby.

Despite Tyreese beefing with Dwayne Johnson in 2017, Hobbs and Shaw is currently slated to hit theaters on July 26, 2019.

Two of Hollywood’s busiest actors Dwayne Johnson who is starring in the first summer blockbuster of 2018 Rampage. (The Rock has 12 movies slated up to 2020).  Jason Statham (he has 5 movies slated up to 2019) will be battle a monstrous shark in The Meg are teaming up for the upcoming Fast and Furious spin off Hobbs and Shaw. Both men don’t have The Fate of the Furious follow up on their roster as of yet.

David Leitch sat down with Fandango talked about his approach to Hobbs and Shaw, and how he hopes to “evolve the world” of the characters:

[I]t’s actually been really fun starting to press this movie with Dwayne [Johnson] and Jason [Statham]. I couldn’t be happier. I have done quite a few movies with Jason as a second unit director and a choreographer. I know him really well. I think what attracted me to that franchise is they really want to do something different. They understood that I wanted to sort of evolve their world, outside of the Fast world, and give it its own imprint…you’re evolving, but you’re still being true to the DNA and the core of the characters that people love. I love that challenge, and doing it with Dwayne and Jason is like a dream. Those guys are hardworking, talented actors.

Maybe in Hobbs and Shaw they will find justice for Han who was killed by Shaw in Furious 7. It could make for an interesting story line.

Leitch interview didn’t top there, he even gave an update on the neon-drenched 2017 spy thriller Atomic Blonde 2. There have been talks that Charlize Theron alluring ass-kicker movie has a high probability of a potential sequel.

Here is what Leitch had to say Atomic Blonde 2:

I think that we’re really trying hard to come up with concepts…We’re still working. There’s a lot of ideas floating around of what the sequel could be, and I think people would love to see Lorraine on another mission. I know I would.

Apparently, they just haven’t nailed-down a concept yet for part 2.

Currently, David has Deadpool 2 opening on May 18, 2018.
