LeBron James SpringHill Entertainment Producing Friday the 13th RebootCelebNMovies247.com has received word that the Friday the 13th reboot is in the early stages, with no writer or director yet on board.

It was recently announced that screenwriter Victor Miller has won that lawsuit over Friday the 13th that’s been gunking up the works forever now. The decision’s been pending for a year now and has interfered with new movies and games.

DreadCentral reports, Von Miller will control rights inside the U.S. while producers control rights elsewhere.

A 62-page summary judgment revealed:

Nearly 40 years ago, a screenplay was written about Camp Crystal Lake. The film created from the screenplay went on to significant commercial success. Lurking below that peaceful surface, however, was the Copyright Act’s termination right, waiting for just the right moment, when it would emerge and wreak havoc on the rights to the screenplay.

Now, LeBron JamesSpringHill Entertainment and Vertigo Entertainment will take on the reboot of Friday the 13th. The film already has a horror franchise that comprises twelve slasher films, a television show, novels, comic books, video games, and tie-in merchandise.

The basis of the franchise is centered around the fictional character Jason Voorhees, who drowned as a boy at Camp Crystal Lake due to the negligence of the camp staff. Decades later, the lake is rumored to be “cursed” and is the setting for a series of mass murders. Jason is featured in all of the films, as either the killer or the motivation for the killings. The original film, created to cash in on the success of Halloween (1978), was written by Victor Miller and was produced and directed by Sean S. Cunningham. The films have grossed over $464 million at the box-office worldwide.

James and his business partner Maverick Carter own production company SpringHill Entertainment, will take on the horror franchise. Other works from SpringHill include; the Lions Gate documentary More Than a Game. Other projects include Disney XD sports documentaries Becoming, Starz sitcom Survivor’s Remorse, and animated web series The LeBrons.

In February 2018 it was announced that James’ production company will produce a new film in the House Party series with James expected to make a cameo.
