Read on to get the details on The Batman movie according to Matt Reeves…
Matt Reeves revealed that the upcoming solo Batman movie would not be part of the larger DCEU. After the backlash, Reeves realized he NEEDED to clarify his remarks. Matt has confirmed that the film will be part of the larger cinematic universe. The only difference is the Batman movie will have no ties to the previous Batman films.
This might have to do with the rumors that Ben Affleck will not be starring in those films since many fans have NOT been fond of his Bruce Wayne/Batman portrayal. However, Ben assured fans that this time his portrayal as the winged hero would be more traditional.
Matt Reeves clarifies:
“Just to be clear: Of COURSE Batman will be part of the D.C. Universe. Batman will be BATMAN… In my comments from a while back about not being part of the DCEU, I was talking about The Batman being a story specifically about Batman not about the others in the Universe. That it wouldn’t be filled with cameos servicing other stories — that it would be a BATMAN story.”
What we are hearing is that it is believed Reeves is doing a massive rewrite that could radically alter Ben Affleck’s original vision for the story. In The Batman, Ben Affleck is expected to face off as the title hero against Joe Manganiello, who would play Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, in the film.
We are NOT sure what will be kept and what will be revamped.
