Now that Spectre is in the can, Daniel Craig has fulfilled his obligation as 007, but now many fans are turning their attention to another famous Brit to take on the role next.
Sorry everyone it’s not going to be Idris Elba, instead it’s going to be Tom Hiddleston. Lets be honest, Tom Hiddleston is a perfect fit for the role of James Bond. He fits the character image, he’s talented, a versitile actor and you love his charm on screen. He place good and bad equally great.
The news comes via DailyMail, which reported that despite being offered loads of money to return, Craig simply wasn’t interested in playing the role again.
A source from Los Angeles told the publication said:
“Daniel is done – pure and simple – he told top brass at MGM after Spectre. They threw huge amounts of money at him, but it just wasn’t what he wanted.”
“He had told people after shooting that this would be his final outing, but the film company still felt he could come around after Spectre if he was offered a money deal.”
Craig has starred in four Bond films: 2006’s Casino Royale, 2008’s Quantum of Solace, 2012’s Skyfall and 2015’s Spectre. It remains to be seen if Craig will confirm the reports that he is in fact done with the franchise.
As of now, he has not commented on the reports, however, he has made comments in the past the indicate he’s ready to move on. The actor famously told reporters in 2015 that he would rather “slash my wrists” than sign a deal to star in another Bond film.
Meanwhile, speculation on who may play the next James Bond has continued onward, and the first name popping up in everyone’s mind is Tom Hiddleston. Tom currently stars in AMC’s The Night Manager and plays Loki in the Marvel film franchise. However, is is fast becoming a fan favorite to replace Craig, and we have to admit, we would love to see Tom Hiddleston take on the role of 007.
Hiddleston has alluded to being interested in the franchise in the past, so there is a chance that such a casting decision could actually happen.
The front-runner revealed:
“I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology. I love the whole thing.”
“If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity. And I’m very aware of the physicality of the job. I would not take it lightly.”
