Find all the details on the upcoming Power Rangers Reboot on the flip…
Yes, get ready and cue the sequels, according to Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer!
As reported by Variety, this is what Feltheimer said during a conference call with analysts.
“We are really, really excited about the ‘Power Rangers’ movie. We could see doing five or six or seven.”
It’s still pretty early and we’ve only seen two official images – so for all we know, the Dean Israelite-directed film will wind up being a smash hit and justifying sequels. But seven films? That’s a big number to throw out there.
During the call, Feltheimer also name-dropped some other projects. He said that Now You See Me 2 is tracking ahead of the first film. He highlighted that Lionsgate opted to move Nerve, starring Emma Roberts and Dave Franco, to a summer slot because test screening reactions were “through the roof.” He also acknowledged that the studio may have rushed Allegiant in order to have it ready for its March 2016 opening.
As for the Power Rangers franchise and Lionsgate’s hope in launching seven more films in the future… we’ll have to wait and see if the first one is actually good or not, and if audiences turn out to see it.
Power Rangers is director by Dean Israelite – writen by John Gatins, Shuki Levy (television series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” created by) and stars Elizabeth Banks, Naomi Scott, Becky G., RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin and Dacre Montgomery.
