Shailene Woodley Opts Out of The Divergent TV series

Shailene Woodley Opts Out of The Divergent TV series

The sci-fi franchise was due to conclude with Ascendant in theaters in June 2017, but now Lionsgate will be airing the fourth and final film on the small screen due to low box office numbers. So Shailene Woodley Rules Herself Out of The Divergent TV series!!!

Flip and see why Shailene Woodley, the star of the Divergent franchise is opting out of the Divergent TV series…

Shailene Woodley Opts Out of The Divergent TV series is NOT surprised by this at all. Shailene Woodley, stars as Tris in the films Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant, so without her the movie will most likely SUCK!

Why did we see this coming?

Prior to the change up, Shailene Woodley hinted she would be open to appearing in the spin-off, she now appears to have ruled herself out of the series.

She told Screen Rant:

“Last I heard they were trying to make it into a television show.”

“I didn’t sign up to be in a television show. Out of respect to the studio and everyone involved, they may have changed their mind and may be doing something different, but I’m not necessarily interested in doing a television show.”

It remains to be seen what will happen to Shailene’s character Tris in the television series. One person who is more positive about a potential return to the story in its new format is her co-star Miles Teller, who played Peter in the first three films.

Miles previously said:

“When we all signed on for the first one we had every intention of finishing it theatrically. We signed on for x amount of movies and you take that all into consideration.”

“We wanted to see that storyline finish. You know, it’s moving into a different format. So who knows? We all really enjoyed that time we spent together and those characters.”

Now it is also being revealed that Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer admitted that the company may have rushed Allegiant to cinemas.

“Maybe we rushed the third movie a bit instead of taking our time with it. We wanted to hit a date.”

We hope Lionsgate reconsiders the final film being on TV because it just sounds like a big piece of poo!
