CelebNMovies247.com has the new details which has caused a change-up for 20th Century Fox plans and release dates for the long-awaited Avatar 2 and its two planned sequels…
OK Star Wars fans don’t freak out but Rian Johnson‘s Star Wars: Episode VIII was recently moved to a December 15th, 2017 release date. Since the holiday release of The Force Awakens was such a HUGE success. Disney wants to capitalize on the Christmas season release for all of the Star Wars films. So we can safely guess that episode VIII will be in 2017 and episode IV will be in 2019.
No one really wants to share a month with the new Star Wars, doubly so considering The Force Awakens is taking almost all box office records!
Cameron is known for having a lengthy production schedule, but the follow-up to Avatar has become an almost mythic undertaking at this point. According to THR [via Collider], Jim Gianopolus, Fox’s CEO and chairman, has said that the director “works at his own pace,” which would make him one of the only directors currently in the game that is allowed to work as they please. That’s to be expected, however, considering the fiscal success of Cameron’s blue-alien mega-hit, and he’s proven to be one of the more consistent masters of modern big-budget entertainments over the last few decades.
Avatar is set to be a three-part saga that would have kicked off on December 15, 2017 and then each of the films would follow every December in 2018 and 2019. Unfortunately, LucasFilms and Disney Studios have locked down the Christmas release dates for 2017 and 2019 for Star Wars VIII and IV. Let us not forget the Star Wars Solo movies and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story film that will hit theaters on December 16, 2016.
The Holiday season will is taken over by the Star Wars franchise, which locks out the Avatar franchise for December releases leaving James Cameron replanning his strategy for the release dates of the Avatar saga.
