Trevor Jackson, Jason Mitchell and Lex Scott Davis light up the Miami sky as they hit the black carpet at the Superfly Miami Premiere at ABFF, a premium outlet for upcoming black entertainers. This was the perfect place to premiere Director X remake of Superfly which takes place in the ATL.

Jason Mitchell, who plays Eddie had this to say about going from playing Eazy-E in Straight Outta Compton to Eddie in Superfly at the Superfly Miami Premiere:

To be honest, I just try to change my hat and try to change my jacket every time. I played Eazy-E, everyone’s like, Oh look, Eazy-E in Mudbound and look at Eazy-E in such and such. So I’ve been trying to go from Eazy-E to Jason Mitchell.

We can tell you now, Jason is Eddie in this movie, NOT Eazy-E. He is extraordinary and can add another great role under his belt. Jason is a fine actor

who continues to prove he is a Hollywood heavyweight in every role. From Mudbound to Detroit and The Chi, Jason is definitely one actor to watch.

Meanwhile, the CEO of ABFF Ventures, Jeff Friday, had an important message to offer on opening night.

We’ve got brothers making billion-dollar movies now with hit TV shows, Friday says referring to Ryan Cooler and Anthony Anderson. Its a completely different world, Black is not niche anymore. Black is mainstream and was not going to be marginalized anymore.

Superfly opens in theaters Friday.
