The New Mutants Pushed Back to 2020

Once again the final X-Men movie The New Mutants gets pushed back to extend the X-Men for another year.

The original date for The New Mutants was April 13, 2018, then August 2, 2019, and now it’s coming in 2020. Read on for details why The New Mutants pushed back…

CelebNMovies247.com has the latest on the final X-Men movies as we know it now, The New Mutants will round out the Fox versions of the franchise and then take a long hiatus.

Why The New Mutants Pushed Back?

In a press release announcing a huge slate of release date changes, Disney has revealed that The New Mutants will be released on April 3, 2020, almost a full two years after it was originally intended to hit theaters.

Josh Boone’s adaptation of the X-Men comics was intended to be a horror-spin on the superhero genre with a group of young mutants getting their powers and being more dangerous because of it. However, the project already had a rocky production because there didn’t seem to be agreement on how hard the horror should be. The film was originally intended to be PG-13, but then word surfaced that the reshoots were going to make the film straight horror.

And now the film is going to be delayed even further because it has a tricky time fitting in with Disney’s portfolio. The studio is already flush with Marvel superhero movies, and the past X-Men franchise is about to be off their plate once Dark Phoenix opens.

New Mutants Theories and What’s Next for X-Men:

It was speculated that New Mutants might just be dumped onto a streaming service like Hulu or Disney+, but as of now, it will be hitting the big screen, just not for another year.

We will see if New Mutants can hold that spot as we worry Disney will change it yet again to a later date in 2020, but for now, it is April.

After that, there are NO X-Men movies in sight on the Disney release schedule. This also means there is no Deadpool movies lined-up which sucks because we were looking forward to X-Force and Deadpool 3.

Disney hasn’t added those movies back into the swing of things, but we do know Ryan Reynolds Deadpool will surface somewhere in the future. Let’s not forget they will be introducing X-Men into the MCU somewhere in the future as well. The question is when?
