Flip and get more details about Tyler Perry setting to get his feet wet with a South Korean Comedy Miss Granny…
TP Studios sets his eyes on a South Korean Comedy. As long as its NOT subjected to another Seth Rogen/James Franco “The Interview,” we are all happier people. Just kidding!
Easy, Miss Granny, a South Korean comedy about an old lady who suddenly finds herself back in the body she had when she was 20.
The film is like the 2009 film 17 Again, starring Zac Efron and the 2003 remake of Freaky Friday starring Lindsay Lohan. It’s one of those films that has you going, “damn…if I could go back to 20 what would I do different?” You might not think its a stretch from the Madea movies, but it’s a good direction.
Tyler seems to do good with comedy-dramas about life. However, the film has been remade in Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indian, Indonesian and Japanese.
She does what any grandma would do – start a band with her grandson and try really hard not to bang him. Natch.
Simple, Tyler Perry’s involvement may be minimal beyond just producing it. He won’t write it, for instance. That duty will fall to Melissa Finell. As for starring in it? At this point it’s unknown.
Personally, we would love to see this movie as a vessel for a Madea film. Tyler could have Madea go back to her early years, this way he doesn’t have to play her. Unless he wants to impose his face on a body like the Shawn Wayans and Kerry Washington 2006 comedy “Littleman.”
Food for thought.
We think its time Madea goes back to 20, so we can see how much of a badass she really was. We know Tyler, he is genius when it comes to Madea. He would make one truly hilarious film.
On the flip side, this is exciting news if only because it hints that Perry will remain in the film game a little longer.
