Are you ready? Then let’s start watching:
Focus Features has released the first trailer for director Niki Caro’s (Whale Rider) bestseller adaptation The Zookeeper’s Wife.
Based on the novel of the same name by Diane Ackerman, the film stars Jessica Chastain as a real-life wife of a zookeeper living in Poland during World War II who, alongside her husband, operated her zoo as a secret sanctuary for Jews looking for refuge.
The trailer portrays its deeply emotional story in low tones, but it’s not without color and light. There’s a beautiful juxtaposition of darkness and hope here from Caro, which is in line with her previous works. While I’m a little skeptical of the decision for a vague Eastern European accent from Chastain, at least it’s something different than the old “an English accent will work for any foreign story” trope that’s been going on forever. And the clearly expertly-crafted film looks to be, of course, incredibly affecting and poignant on a number of fronts, including the very act of telling a WWII tale that includes something as unexpected as a zoo. It’s a new way to explore the personal lives of those who faced the horrors of an era that must not ever be forgotten.

The Zookeeper’s Wife opens in theaters on March 31, 2017.
Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for Monster Trucks online, and this one is for the kids. Directed by Ice Age helmer Chris Wedge, the film stars Lucas Till as a high school senior who builds a monster truck of his own. The only difference is that its a monster in a truck. Who thinks of this stuff?
It was reportedly a point of contention at Paramount, as the studio apparently greenlit the project thinking it would appeal to broad audiences but the film that was delivered turn out to be much more of a kids movie. The studio has pre-emptively written down $115 million as a result. Hey kids movies make big money and if this movie is good, we know Paramount will be adding Merchandise and most likely a sequel. We see this movie appealing to young boys who love hot wheels, trucks and all that.
We bet Paramount Pictures is crossing their fingers that they made a good call or someone will be getting walking papers.
One thing we suggest is get a new round of posters. Maybe some solo posters of the monsters and put a Troll spin on it, so they’re character themed.
The film also stars Jane Levy, Rob Lowe, Amy Ryan, Holt McCallany, Barry Pepper, Tucker Albrizzi, Danny Glover, and Frank Whaley.
For now, take a look at the new Monster Trucks trailer below:
