Will Smith Issues Statement Responding To Oscars Ban

Will Smith Issues Statement Responding To Oscars Ban!

Shortly after the news that Will Smith has been banned from the Academy Awards for the next 10 years, the King Richard actor has released a statement…

CelebnMovies247.com and CelebnMusic247.com report that Will Smith issues statement following the Academy’s Board of Governors has announced that Will Smith has been banned from all Academy events, including The Oscars, for a ten year period.

Smith has released a statement on the matter accepting the ruling.

In one sentence statement, keeping is short and simple, Smith wrote:

I accept and respect the Academy’s decision.

Smith’s ban and previous resignation from The Academy came after the fallout of the actor slapping comedian Chris Rock on stage of the 94th Academy Awards. Stories and rumors have swirled since then about what was being considered in the room after the event, which was broadcast uncensored in some countries.

Since then Rock has garnered support from friends, and other comedians. While Smith has been criticized for slapping Rock. Even Chris Rock’s brother had something to say.

Everyone seems to forget that Chris Rock has made Jada Pinkett-Smith a target for over a decade and Will was tired of it. Not to mention, the joke about Jada’s shaved head was NOT part of his routine that he practiced before the awards. The joke was a straight up adlib.

Who Will Present the winner of Best Actor/Actress Next Year?

Typically the winner of Best Actor/Actress would announce the winner of the prize the next year, something Smith will be ineligible to do. It’s also of note that the Board of Governors’ decision to ban Smith from their events for a decade does not prevent him from being nominated or winning another award at the Oscars during that time, he would simply not be present to accept it.
