First Look at Blumhouse ‘Fantasy Island’ Horror Reimagining!

CelebNMovies247.com has learned on Friday Blumhouse tweeted an image of the first poster for their upcoming Fantasy Island film.
This time around Michael Pena was starring in the lead role as the mysterious Mr. Roarke as this movie is a supernatural horror reimagining of the classic TV show, in which guests fly out to “Fantasy Island” to have their ultimate fantasies fulfilled for a price.
If you’re NOT at all familiar with the original TV series, you know that a popular catchphrase from the show was “The plane! The plane!” as delivered by Hervé Villechaize, who played Mr. Roarke’s assistant Tattoo.
It was a TV series that aired from 1978 – 1984. This time the TV series gets a terrifying twist which is ingeniously displayed in the “Fantasy Island” poster. The tweet asks “Can you see it?”
And we ask you, “Can you see it?” The island is a face screaming and the main resort on the island is an eye seen below:
You might also notice the poster’s referencing two past Blumhouse horror hits Get Out and Halloween, I’m guessing the thing they really want us to see is the skull. But hey, maybe it’s both!
The official plot summary from Sony Pictures reads:
The enigmatic Mr. Roarke (Michael Peña), makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. But when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.
If you remember the series Mr. Roarke’s goal was to use the fantasies he created to teach the guests lessons about their own lives. This time around its kind of the same premise with a twist to solve a mystery or die. It makes sense to take Fantasy Island and make it more of a horror-thriller of who done with consequences. Judging by the plot description, the movie seems like it will still be pretty faithful to the show.
Hopefully, the trailer is more of a mystery and we don’t see all the main scenes. We miss the day where you only get enough. Blumhouse, please do NOT show us all the scariest parts of the movie. Let us get scared in the theater.
