Aldis Hodge Joining Dwayne Johnson DC Movie As Hawkman!
This is AWESOME! We are loving the fact that Aldis Hodge will be playing Hawkman in the upcoming Black Adam movie. Read on…
CelebnMovies247.com reports that Aldis Hodge (Invisible Man) is in talks to join New Line/DC’s Black Adam as Hawkman.
We originally felt that Aldis Hodge would be a perfect replacement for Black Panther 2 since the tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman, but it appears The Straight Outta Compton star is joining the DC Universe.
Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions are producing with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. Johnson, Collet-Serra, Flynn, Garcia.
In case you didn’t know Garcia recently collaborated on Jungle Cruise which is opening July 30, 2021.
It seems the same team is sticking together to cash in a second-round with The Rock (Black Adam) and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman.
Here is what we’ve learned:
TheWrap reports:
Hawkman is the name of several DC Comics heroes, but the best-known versions are the original incarnation created by Gardner Fox and Dennis Neville in 1940, and a rebooted version created by Gardner Fox and Joe Kubert in 1961, and later revamped by Timothy Truman.
All versions of Hawkman are able fly using artificial wings made out of a rare alien metal that counteracts the laws of gravity and take their name from their mask resembling, well, a hawk. The first look at how this will appear onscreen came Aug. 22 during Warner Bros.’ virtual Comic-Con alternative DC FanDome, courtesy of a pair of “Black Adam” backstory teasers introduced by Johnson. The clips, motion-comics created entirely using concept art, explain that millennia ago Black Adam was a citizen of an advanced ancient civilization chosen by the Council of Wizards — the same group whose last surviving member gave Billy Batson his powers in 2019’s “Shazam!” — to liberate his people from slavery.
Black Adam’s brand of Justice was too cruel and vindictive and in response, the Council imprisoned him, seemingly for all eternity. But 5,000 years later, he escapes and sets out to continue what he started. This time, however, superheroes have emerged and four of them — Cyclone, Atom Smasher, Dr. Fate and Hawkman — unite as the Justice Society to oppose him.
Hawkman Black Adam Details:
Deadline reports:
Hodge joins Dwayne Johnson who stars as the titular anti-hero in the latter’s first superhero role. Hodge will play Hawkman, aka Carter Hall, a member of the Justice Society. It was previously announced that Noah Centineo is playing Atom Smasher.
The movie is cleared to shoot in Georgia next year.
Hodge recently appeared in the pre-pandemic hit The Invisible Man and is starring in Regina King’s feature directorial debut One Night in Miami which recently premiered at Venice and played TIFF to rave reviews (99% fresh).
Jaume Collet-Serra, who also directed Johnson in Disney’s Jungle Cruise, is helming Black Adam off a recent draft by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. Adam Sztykiel wrote the previous draft.
FlynnPictureCo’s Scott Sheldon will serve as executive producer.
