Disney’s The Little Mermaid Trailer Has Young Black Girls Celebrating!

When you are a little boy or girl, life is impressionable and what makes it better is when you can relate to the person on screen. Continue on to watch Disney’s The Little Mermaid Trailer…

CelebnMovies247.com reports that over the years Disney has been focusing on being inclusive and making sure they represent everyone in their films. Now, they have done a live-action version of the classic animated movie The Little Mermaid, but changed the lead to be played by an African American and everyone is excited.

We previously reported that Disney was looking at multiple up and coming actresses for the upcoming live action version of Ariel.

Grown-ish alum and one half of the popular musical duo Chloe x Halle, Halle Bailey is the first Black Ariel.

Since the trailer premiered over the weekend parents have been capturing joyous footage of their young Black daughters watching the new trailer of The Little Mermaid and excitedly seeing Halle Bailey emerge as the first Black Ariel.

Disney held its biennial expo where it revealed what is coming next to their die-hard fans and showed a teaser of the much-anticipated live-action Little Mermaid movie.

The first look of the film includes Ariel played by Bailey, singing “Part of Your World.” A video from inside the expo, which has since been deleted, showed the crowd cheering when the preview finished playing. At the event, Bailey revealed that it took three days to film that song alone.

Social media posts and videos show how it especially struck a chord with young Black girls who finally saw themselves represented as one of the all-time classic Disney princesses.
