Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of Stephen King’s popular novel The Shining is widely considered as one of the best horror movies ever made.

CelebNMovies247.com can say the same about Mike Flanagan’s recently released sequel Doctor Sleep centering around character Danny Torrance all grown up, struggling with his childhood trauma.
Doctor Sleep, which is remarkably good, terrifying and just as disturbing as the Shining fell a bit short to Lionsgate’s Midway which took #1 for the weekend box office with $17.5 million. Doctor Sleep came in at #2 with $14 million. Paramount Pictures Playing with Fire was next with $12.7, Universals Last Christmas in 4th with $11,441,055 and rounding out 5 was Terminator: Dark Fate with $10,808,236 (total $48,465,366). – Box Office Mojo

WB had commissioned Flanagan to pen Halloran, a new movie focused on the character of Dick Halloran (who makes an appearance in both Stephen King novels), way before Doctor Sleep was even completed.
Now with Doctor Sleep opening weekend being low, its possible that Warner Bros. will put the movie on ice.
