CelebNMovies247.com has learned that ‘Coming 2 America’ directed by Craig Brewer will pick up 32 years later.

The sequel follows Prince Akeem after he found his Princess during his travels to New York from a fictional African nation to escape an arranged marriage. This time around Prince Akeem returns to America to search for his long-lost son.

The ‘Dolemite Is My Name’ star Eddie Murphy will reprise his role as Prince Akeem along with many of the original cast members.

Eddie said:

A lot of people have this expectation like people would say to me when they found out I was doing it, ‘Don’t f**k that movie up. So we’ve gone above and beyond what anybody would think. I’m really, really happy with it.

‘Coming 2 America’ director Craig Brewer, who admitted it was a dream come true for him as he is such a big fan of the original movie.

Brewer said:

Every day I just want to go back in a time machine and talk to my 16-year-old self and say, ‘You’ll never guess what you’re going to be doing in the future.’

He explained:

When I was 16 and watching ‘Coming to America’ I wanted to be Prince Akeem. But now I’ve got two kids and some life behind me, I find that I’m probably a little bit closer to King Jaffe, James Earl Jones’ character!

Eddie, 58, seems to be returning to his 1980s roots, confirming plans to revive the ‘Beverley Hills Cop’ franchise and hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’ for the first time since 1984.

Eddie said:

Yeah that’s what we’re doing after ‘Coming to America 2’. We’re doing ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ and then the plan is to get back on stage and do more stand-up.

He added:

I’m not going to be making two or three movies a year like I did back in the early days.

We’re looking forward to Ruth E. Carter costumes and design.
