While CelebNMovies247.com would love to see a new horror franchise started the studio continue to go back to the drawing board and remake some of the successful horror franchises.

Take, for instance, The Grudge which went three films strong is coming back to the big screen with a new cast two months earlier on June 21st, 2019.

The Grudge reboot was set to hit on August 16th, but the move update shows promise that the reboot is scoring well with advance screening audiences.

If you recall, this will be the second time that the 2002 Japanese film, Ju-on: The Grudge has received the reboot treatment. 2004 saw the release of the first American version of the movie, which was then followed by two sequels with varying degrees of success.

The fourth installment in The Grudge franchise was first announced back in 2011 when it was revealed that it would serve as a reboot. It was uncertain if the horror film was going to be released straight to VOD, like The Grudge 3, but no, it will be heading to theaters for summer 2019.

It was revealed that the fourth installment would not be based on the previous films and that it would introduce new ghosts along with a new mythology. Jeff Buhler was hired to write the script for the reboot. In 2017, Nicolas Pesce came on board to direct, and production on the film started in May 2018 and went into late June.

The Grudge reboot will also have to battle at the box office with X-Men: Dark Phoenix and the Men in Black reboot, which will have been in theaters for a few weeks by the time that the horror film hits theaters on June 21st.
