They’re Baaack! Paranormal Activity 7 Scares Up Spring 2021 Release Date!

Are you ready for more ghostly scares? Well, no worries then since Paranormal Activity 7 is officially on the Paramount Pictures calendar. Read on…

CelebNMovies247.com was recently asking “there hasn’t been a Paranormal Activity movie in a minute,” and then we get the news that Paranormal Activity 7 is in the works.

Paramount Pictures has revealed that the seventh installment of the long-running horror franchise will hit theaters in spring 2021.

In fact, Paramount and Blumhouse Productions feel the time is right for a return to the once-reliable hit-making series. Especially since legacy franchises such as Saw and Halloween have had success recently.

The studio has revealed that the seventh installment of the long-running horror franchise will hit theaters in spring 2021.

According to a new report, Paranormal Activity 7 (which doesn’t yet have an official title) will hit theaters on March 19, 2021. This will break tradition for the franchise as the first four installments were all released near Halloween in October to capitalize on the demand for horror movies that time of year. That proved to be a solid strategy. The studio broke with that pattern for Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, which arrived in January. The most recent entry, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, returned to the October frame. March remains uncharted territory but represents the potentially fertile ground, as studios have had luck with the pre-summer months in recent years.

Very little is known about the new entry at this time. Paramount announced the project over the summer and stated that Blumhouse head Jason Blum will be producing. Beyond that, no plot details have been revealed. It’s possible this could end up being a reboot, but it’s highly likely they will want to keep the established history of the Paranormal Activity franchise intact if possible. At this time, there is no word on who will be penning the screenplay or who could wind up in the director’s chair, nor is there any indication as to who may end up starring.

Paranormal Activity, written and directed by Oren Peli and released in 2009, proved gave a major boost to the found-footage horror sub-genre, a full decade after The Blair Witch Project introduced it to the masses. Made on a shoestring budget of just $15,000, the movie proved to be a massive hit, grossing $194 million at the global box office. That still represents one of the best returns on investment for any movie in history. Naturally, that spawned a franchise, with sequels that varied quite a bit, both in terms of quality and financial success.

Paranormal Activity Box Office:

To date, the series has earned a total of $890 million at the global box office across six entries. Paramount and Blumhouse took a break following the release of 2015’s The Ghost Dimension, which earned a series-low $77 million, working from budget of $10 million. The high-mark was 2011’s Paranormal Activity 3, which earned $207 million. Perhaps some time away can reinvigorate interest from moviegoers, similar to what Lionsgate accomplished with Jigsaw in 2017 after taking a seven-year break from the Saw movies. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as any further details on the project are made available.
