CelebnMovies247.com has learned that Misha Green is making the jump to feature directing with the next Tomb Raider film.
When director Roar Uthaug’s Tomb Raider dropped into theaters in early 2018, it performed well enough for it to inspire a sequel.
Well, that day is finally getting one step closer to bringing the long-awaited sequel to life. The sequel has been delayed for some time now.
The Lovecraft Country creator will write and direct the project for MGM, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
In addition to creating Lovecraft, the HBO hit that she executive produced with J.J. Abrams and Jordan Peele, Green is known for WGN’s Underground. She also worked on FX’s Sons of Anarchy, and also penned and is producing the action film The Mother for Netflix.
The next Tomb Raider movie will once again star Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft, the video game adventurer who first debuted in 1996 and was previously played by Angelina Jolie in two films.
Vikander’s 2018 Tomb Raider movie was directed by Roar Uthaug and earned just under $275 million globally. The sequel will be produced by Graham King via his GK Films banner, and Elizabeth Cantillon via The Cantillon Company.
