CelebNMovies247.com has learned that Sony has set a release date for its Spider-Man spin-off film.
Last week it was reported that the popular Spider-Man villain Venom might be getting his own solo movie. Today, we got word vis Sony Pictures, that the “The Mummy” director and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” writer Alex Kurtzman will helm the upcoming Marvel movie, but no word yet on who’ll star as Venom.
Amy Pascal was the co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, she told Variety:
“We are expanding the Spider-Man universe into The Sinister Six and Venom, so that we have Spider-Man movies every year.”
Venom has taken over the time slot for Warner Bros.’ Aquaman solo film since it got pushed back to December 2018.

Per TheWrap:
This version of the Marvel villain will reportedly not exist in the shared MCU as Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Sony first revived the film project last year and according to last year’s reports, the film was “being envisioned as a franchise apart from and unrelated to the upcoming Spider-Man movie in the works with actor Tom Holland.”
Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, the producers of the Spider-Man movies for Sony, are also producing Venom, with Dante Harper (Edge of Tomorrow) penning the script.
Meanwhile, the first solo film for the MCU/Sony version of Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Homecoming, hits theaters on July 7.
