MCU Movie Release Dates 2019:
CAPTAIN MARVEL:
Release Date: March 8, 2019
Director: Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck
Cast: Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, and Jude Law.
Marvel’s first female-led superhero film will revolve around the most powerful character in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. This iteration of Captain Marvel will focus on the character of Carol Danvers, whose adventures are earthbound but whose powers are based in the cosmic realm. Joss Whedon wanted to introduce the character at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, but Marvel didn’t want to bring Captain Marvel into the MCU fully formed without first telling her origin story. Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) are writing the screenplay, and Oscar-winning Room actress Brie Larson has been set to star. And after a lengthy director’s search, Marvel settled on Half Nelson and Mississippi Grind filmmakers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
Carol Danvers has been lighting up the globe for almost two weeks, she’s headed to the $800M mark worldwide. Disney/Marvel’s Captain Marvel has grossed $797M through Tuesday, including $519.3M at the international box office.
AVENGERS: ENDGAME:
Release Date: April 26, 2019
Directors: Joe and Anthony Russo
Synopsis:
Adrift in space with no food or water, Tony Stark sends a message to Pepper Potts as his oxygen supply starts to dwindle. Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers — Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, and Bruce Banner — must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies for an epic showdown with Thanos — the evil demigod who decimated the planet and the universe.
SPIDERMAN: FAR FROM HOME
Release Date: July 5, 2019
Director: Jon Watts
Cast: Tom Holland
Peter Parker’s relaxing European vacation takes an unexpected turn when Nick Fury suddenly shows up in his hotel room.
Parker soon finds himself donning the Spider-Man suit to help Fury stop the evil Mysterio from wreaking havoc across the continent.
One thing we can say is that the movie will take place after the Avengers: Endgame which means they succeed. Nick Fury and Spiderman are back in action, but the introduction of Mysterio suggests more. HR points out Mysterio’s involvement suggests the existence of a powerful group of superhumans working behind the scenes. The comic book version of the Illuminati later came to possess the Infinity Stones. This could be a leap, but Mysterio’s involvement with SHIELD definitely suggests a bigger story, one that won’t find the character simply performing the role of the villain we’ve come to know in the comics.
MCU Movie Release Dates 2020:
THE ETERNALS:
The Eternals are a fictional species of humanity appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. They are described as an offshoot of the evolutionary process that created sentient life on Earth.
The original instigators of this process, the alien Celestials, intended the Eternals to be the defenders of Earth, which leads to the inevitability of war against their destructive counterparts, the Deviants. The Eternals were created by Jack Kirby and made their first appearance in The Eternals #1 (July 1976).
The movie is said to be The Eternals and The Deviants movie so it will have the protagonists and antagonists with the introduction of more MCU superheroes and villains. We can assume this will be either a May or July 2020 release, but our guess is May 1, 2020.
MCU Movie Release Dates 2021:
BLACK WIDOW:
Black Widow solo action movie has finally been confirmed and production is on its way.
Release Date: 2021 (Guess May 7, 2021)
Director: Cate Shortland
Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh
Florence Pugh is the first to potentially join Scarlett Johansson in this venture. Director Cate Shortland, the Australian filmmaker, it attached to the project. She is most recognized for directing the Nazi drama Lore.
Black Widow will be a standalone feature, so we would be seeing plenty of both actors in the new big budget film. The film is set to start shooting sometime in June, overseas in London, England.
There has been literally no plot details released, none. Marvel is keeping tight-lipped, iron tight about the storyline.
MCU Movie Release Dates 2022:
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3:
Release Date: 2022 (Guess May 6, 2022)
Director: James Gunn
Cast: Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Pratt, and more…
According to Production Weekly (via Comic Book), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will begin production in February of 2021.
The reinstatement of James Gunn has reportedly been confirmed, though not publicly, by both Marvel and James Gunn’s representatives. This should be great news to Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and particularly Dave Bautista penned an open letter petitioning to have him reinstated.
Gunn ended up being hired by DC and Warner Bros. to write and direct Suicide Squad 2, which is now under the title The Suicide Squad.
The sequel for Suicide Squad 2 will hit the big screen in 2021.
This also means that Guardians will be hitting in 2022 once filming has wrapped on the DCUs The Suicide Squad.
Where does this leave the MCU?
Well, there are multiple movies to be made like Black Panther 2 (with Ryan Coogler directing again), Doctor Strange 2 (Scott Derrickson directing), Thor 4, Silver Surfer: Prodical Son (Penned by Princeton Kennedy + Jack Kirby (characters)), Deadpool 3 (Penned by Rob Liefeld + Fabian Nicieza), (Rumored Fantastic 4 reboot again), and Shang-Chi.
