Once again, the DCEU is retooling their superhero movies, This time around Aquaman is getting some changes by director James Wan.
The upcoming Aquaman plot line has been hush until now, but sources are claiming that there are some changes happening to the movie. Two of the movies more important characters, King Nereus (Dolph Lundgren) and Mera (Amber Heard) are getting a change. Read on…
CelebNMovies247.com has heard a rumor via a source, best known as Aquaman Shrine on Twitter is claiming that they’ve received word that King Nereus will actually be the father of Mera.
This is a HUGE DEAL since this is completely opposite of King Nereus (Dolph Lundgren) and Mera (Amber Heard) relationship in the comics.
Aquaman Comic Details:
King Nereus was part of an exiled group of Ataleans known as the Xebels. Nereus was head of the Xebels’ military faction, and as tradition dictated, he was set to marry the king’s royal daughter Mera, after her father had passed. This didn’t exactly happen in the comics, though, with Mera falling for Aquaman/Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) after being sent on a mission to kill Arthur. This news was revealed by Dolph Lundgren, in a new interview.
According to Dolph Ludgren its all different. He spilled the tea, revealing:
“It is good to be king. Basically, I try to keep the peace down there along with Amber Heard, who plays my daughter. She’s trying to convince me to join the right side. Then you have Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s mother. We’re trying to avoid war between the surface dwells and the people of Atlantis.”
Yikes, Dolph, you’re supposed to be tight lipped about the project, not loose lips.
This is HUGE tea to be spilled, because DCEU fans will run with this. It also means that the movie will be taking liberties with the live action version which will NOT reflect the comics. This also means Nereus motives against Aquaman will be completely changed. We hope this works out, but we noticed this are being retooled since Black Panther has released with stellar reviews.
The tea just got spilled that King Nereus and Mera’s relationship has been decided in the upcoming Jason Moama Aquamna movie.
According to source, they will be father and daughter:
“Diverging from comics canon, the relationship between Dolph Lundgren’s King Nereus and Amber Heard’s Mera in AQUAMAN will be father and daughter!”
The source also reveals Nicole Kidman will be Aquaman’s mother:
“It’s good to be king. Basically, I try to keep the peace down there along with Amber Heard who plays my daughter. Then you have Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s mother. We’re trying to avoid war between the surface and Atlantis. — @Dolph_Lundgren on King Nereus role. #Aquaman”
Jason Momoa, Amber Heard and Dolph Lundgren are part of a talented ensemble cast that also includes Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s mother, Queen Atlanna, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen as Black Manta, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry and Ludi Lin as Murk. James Wan directs from a script by Will Beall, based on a story by James Wan and Geoff Johns. You can head on over to the Las Vegas Review Journal for their full interview with Dolph Lundgren.
The DCEU needs another win like Wonder Woman.
