Aquaman Poster Dissed: Peter Safran on Gigantic Sea Dragon

The DCU is gearing up for their next big superhero movie, Aquaman.

Unfortunately, the first Aquaman promo poster is already receiving major backlash since the designers BOND (the people behind Death Wish, The Equalizer and more posters) used stock images around Arthur Curry.

Meanwhile, Aquaman producer Peter Safran weighed in on the decision to have a Gigantic Sea Dragon in the film. Continue on for more…

CelebNMovies247.com has this report regarding the upcoming Aquaman movie, and we are hoping that the movie is NOT a precursor for another DCU disaster.

According to the team behind the upcoming film, they’ve taken a cue from Game of Thrones for Aquaman by stepping up the look of the underwater sea dragons in the upcoming movie. The new look is a part of the concerted effort to make Aquaman cooler in an environment where the public attitude has been the opposite.

Jason Momoa fought hard to get rid of jokes at Arthur Curry’s expense in last year’s Justice League, and it appears that James Wan and producer Peter Safran are on the same page.

Aquaman producer Peter Safran recently spoke about the reasoning behind designing the intimidating sea dragons for the movie.

Safran said:

The idea was to turn on its head the idea of Aquaman riding a seahorse, take something for which he was mocked and turn it into something terrifying and impressive. He’s a Xebellian creature but I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Arthur (Jason Momoa) on one at some point…

Aquaman has to be pretty hyped by now. While we wait for the trailer to drop later this week, you can check out the brand-new image of the sea dragon below, provided by Entertainment Weekly.

Aquaman Poster Blasted on Social Media for Lazy Photoshop Job:

Right before the first trailer is supposed to drop at San Diego Comic-Con, Aquaman gets BASHED by fans. The attempts to make Arthur Curry cool have already been foiled by some pretty clever memes

Aquaman doesn’t hit theaters until December, so there’s still plenty of time for DC to release another poster that doesn’t use stock images of great white sharks.
