Captain Marvel just lost DeWanda Wise due to scheduling conflicts with Netflix show ‘She’s Gotta Have It’.
Captain Marvel will be the first Marvel movie to star a female superhero as the lead role, but sources have claim DeWanda Wise, 33, was forced to quit.
Wise was forced to drop out of the production due to ”scheduling conflicts” with her hit Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It.
The Netflix series. which is based on Spike Lee’s 1986 movie, got renewed for a second season in January. The news came just after DeWanda joined the cast of the upcoming Marvel flick.
Other stars joining Brie, who will star as Carol Danvers and her crime fighting alter-ego, Captain Marvel. The cast includes Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, and Samuel L. Jackson, who will be reprising his role as MCU fan-favorite Nick Fury.
Ben Mendelsohn is known to be starring as the villain, and although his exact role is not yet known, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige previously teased that the shape-shifting alien group known as the Skrulls would feature in Captain Marvel.
The story follows Air Force pilot Carol whose DNA is fused with that of an alien in an accident, giving her super strength, energy projection and flight powers.
Captain Marvel details are being kept tightly under wraps. What we did learn is that Feige announced at the San Diego Comic Con that the film will be set in the 90s. Basically, Captain Marvel will take place before the events of the ‘Avengers’ movie.
Directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck MCU film slated for a March 8, 2019 release.
