Well, it has started, the post-Avengers Endgame films are beginning to line up like the infinity stones with Doctor Strange 2 going into production.
Yes, Doctor Strange 2 kicks off production next year according to star Benedict Wong. Read on…
CelebNMovies247.com has the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe news with Doctor Strange 2 is in the works but Benedict Wong teases here, there may be a new writer on board.
See, Benedict Wong who plays Master of the Mystic Arts Wong in the MCU, was recently asked about the sequel in an interview.
Here is what Wong revealed to LRM:
I know they’ve now got a writer on board who I met at the Endgame premiere, so I think that may be happening sometime next year.
This means that MCU fans can expect Doctor Stephen Strange to return to the big screen in 2021.
The interesting bit there has to do with the writer. Scott Derrickson directed Doctor Strange and is reportedly set to return to helm the follow-up. His creative partner and friend C. Robert Cargill penned the screenplay. It was expected that he would return, given his relationship with Derrickson. However, as Benedict Wong teases here, there may be a new writer on board. Is this someone who is co-writing the script with Cargill? Or has Marvel Studios decided to bring on someone new entirely?
Right now as it stands there are eight Marvel movies have been given release dates:
- May 1, 2020
- November 6, 2020
- February 12, 2021
- May 7, 2021
- November 5, 2021
- February 18, 2022
- May 6, 2022
- July 29, 2022
It is certain that Doctor Strange 2 will more than likely be taking a 2021 slot, we are betting November 5, 2021, since the first Doctor Strange was released in November 2016.
In the meantime, we know the Black Widow movie will be taking a 2020 slot. And as for Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Eternals and Shang-Chi, those will round out the MCU release dates. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will probably take the second to last slot on May 6, 2022.
