Dwayne Johnson Lands Role as Kamehameha CelebNMovis247.com has the latest from Hollywood regarding the upcoming Warner Bros.’ epic The King starring Dwayne Johnson.

Robert Zemeckis will direct from a script by Braveheart writer Randall Wallace for New Line, which worked with Johnson on disaster thriller San Andreas and his recent release, Rampage.

Why Dwayne Johnson King Kamehameha Role is so Important:

Johnson will produce via his Seven Bucks Productions, along with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia. FlynnPictureCo’s Beau Flynn, Zemeckis, and Wallace will also produce.

Dwayne Johnson, who is of Polynesian descent, has been hoping to make a movie about Kamehameha for the better of the past two decades. Last year, a Hawaiian Kahu, a priest, held a ceremony blessing the project, Johnson, Wallace, and Garcia in Hawaii.

The Rock has had a plentiful career going from action to comedy and back. The Skyscraper star has starred in several franchises such as Jumanji, Fast & Furious, San Andreas, Rampage and the Disney’s upcoming Jungle Cruise movie.

Kamehameha is known as the founder and first ruler of the kingdom of Hawaii, uniting the warring islands. The King is described as a sweeping historical epic based on the true-life story of Kamehameha, who fulfilled the prophecy that surrounded his fabled life since birth.

Zemeckis will soon be in theaters with Universal’s Welcome to Marwen, starring Steve Carell and Leslie Mann.

In other news, earlier in August, The Rock paid homage to Walt Disney and his upcoming movie Jungle Cruise.

Take a look:

*watch ‘til the end and see one of the most awe inspiring & massive sets ever built from scratch. Walt Disney, this one’s for you buddy! ? ??? Officially kicked off our @DisneysJungleCruise start of production with great respect, love, energy & mana. How cool is it that in 1955 when Disneyland first opened, Walt Disney himself, imagined and designed the first ever JUNGLE CRUISE ride. And he was the ride’s first skipper as well! A role that now I have the honor of bringing to life along with my incomparable co-star Emily Blunt ?? Heartfelt MAHALO to my home state of HAWAII for once again being a beautiful and exotic backdrop for one of my films. And for welcoming me and our big production back to the islands to help boost some economics and help our hard working locals and businesses. Honestly, this role is a dream come true and my gratitude & motivation to deliver something great is boundless. And ?? now I need a drink. Welcome to the adventure of a lifetime… #JUNGLECRUISE ? ????
