The 43-year-old director, Rian Johnson, had the ”time of [his] life working on upcoming movie ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’. Not to mention Lucasfilm, who too, is overjoyed at the new three-films, which Rian will write and direct.
Rian and Ram said in a statement:
”We had the time of our lives collaborating with Lucasfilm and Disney on ‘The Last Jedi’. ‘Star Wars’ is the greatest modern mythology and we feel very lucky to have contributed to it. We can’t wait to continue with this new series of films.”
What we can tell you is these three films with be happening in a different part of the galaxy ”separate from the episodic Skywalker saga.” It will also introduce new characters.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said:
“We all loved working with Rian on ‘The Last Jedi’. He’s a creative force, and watching him craft ‘The Last Jedi’ from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”
No release dates have yet been set for the movies. In addition, LucasFilms has also announced a live-action ‘Star Wars’ TV series is going into production. The show will air on Disney’s own upcoming streaming service by the end of 2019.
