Sigourney Weaver Returning For ‘Ghostbusters’ Sequel

Sigourney Weaver Returning For 'Ghostbusters' Sequel

Finally, someone is doing something right! Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters film is designed as a true sequel to the original 1980s films, with nothing to do with 2016’s reboot.

According to new reports, there is a ‘Ghostbusters’ Sequel in the works and the studio is hoping to bring back the original cast for another installment to put Ghostbuster back in good standing. Read on…

Sigourney Weaver Returning For 'Ghostbusters' Sequel

CelebNMovies247.com is hearing that Reitman, the son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, is focusing this sequel on a younger group, casting Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), McKenna Grace (Captain Marvel), and Carrie Coon (Gone Girl).

However, the ‘Ghostbusters’ sequel will include the original cast members, that is if they say yes to doing the project, up until now none has been confirmed.

Maybe this is the break Reitman needed because that has changed with Sigourney Weaver confirming to Parade that she’s coming back as hauntee and Peter Venkman’s love interest, Dana Barrett.

Here is what is being said about the ‘Ghostbusters’ sequel:

She’s also set to reunite with Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in the new Ghostbusters, due July 2020. ‘It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!’ she says. She won’t reveal any details except to confirm she’s reprising her role as hauntee Dana Barrett.

So there’s a lot in that little bit of quote text. Not only does Weaver confirm her return, but it sounds like Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd will be joining her. Neither would necessarily be a shock. Akroyd is the movie’s producer, after all, and Murray has recently said he’d be happy to come back if asked.

Has anybody called Ernie Hudson yet? I need a “That’s a big Twinkie” callback.

The ‘Ghostbusters’ sequel opens July 10th 2020.
