Sony Pictures Lands Vin Diesel as Bloodshot in Comic Book Adaptation

CelebNMovies247.com has the latest from Sony Pictures, who announced in September 2016 that they are working on a Valiant Comics movie universe which will span five movies. Bloodshot is the first of the franchise.

The plan is to have Vin Diesel star in two VCMU Bloodshot movies, and two Harbinger movies, concluding with a Harbinger Wars event movie. Things have been in limbo until now. Talk about starting 2018 off with a bang! Vin Diesel as Bloodshot is perfection. Now that Sony has found their Furious leading man, it’s NOT surprising he’s going to make a Furia of a splash. We wouldn’t be surprised if this project starts production soon.

Since, Dave Bautista recently said he wanted to head back to the WWE, it’s no surprise the studio changed direction for the Valiant Comics universe and turned to box office gold mine, Vin Diesel.

This new report also claims that Sony is eyeing a 2019 release for the movie. No release date has been revealed yet. Although, if the film is eyeing a 2019 release, more likely around the fall, that means casting news is soon as well, via The Wrap.

Bloodshot comic book back story:

The Bloodshot comic book was created in 1992 by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton, and was immediately a huge hit among Valiant Comics fans. The story follows a mortally wounded soldier who is brought back from the dead thanks to cutting-edge nanotechnology that allows him to heal from injuries at an incredibly fast rate, while also giving him the ability to interface with other forms of technology and he also became a shape-shifter. The book was translated into French, German, Italian, Spanish, Norwegian, Filipino, Chinese and Turkish languages. There has been no indication yet as to any specific comic book stories this movie will be following.

This news comes just after Vin Diesel was named the top-grossing actor of 2017, with the actor’s two movies from last year, XXX: The Return of Xander Cage and The Fate of the Furious bringing in $1.6 billion. This doesn’t include his voice work as Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. and in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. You can also catch Vin in Fast & Furious 9 and Fast & Furious 10.
