Aquaman 3 Unlikely To Happen Since Aquaman 2 Continues To Fall

Aquaman 3 Unlikely To Happen Since Aquaman 2 Continues To Fall!

Aquaman 2: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom still has the potential to be DC’s best of the year, but its the end of the original DC Universe which means that Aquaman 3 Unlikely …

CelebnMovies247.com has learned that Aquaman 2: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to be the last movie from the original DC Universe, Aquaman’s second live-action solo movie stars Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

This comes after several DC box office disasters, including Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Blue Beetle, and The Flash.  Despite its severe 56% fall in the box office, Aquaman 2 is still about to pass the entire domestic gain from The Flash. That would make it DC’s highest-grossing domestic movie of all of 2023.

According to Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director James Wan, if he was asked to return to helm Aquaman 3 if it were ever greenlit. The director said that he would have “the same freedom” as he was given with Aquaman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. However, Wan pointed out how he has never “directed a third movie [in a series] before.” So that would be a huge step.

The other hurdle that stands in the way of Aquaman 3 is James Gunn and Peter Safran could be going in a different “direction” with their upcoming DCU, so he realizes that Aquaman 3 may not even ever happen.

Wan weighed in saying:

“I’m not sure what direction [Gunn and Safran] are going in, though, so who knows? I’ve learned to never say never.”

Seeing as Superman: Legacy will kick off the new DCU franchise under James Gunn and Peter Safran with actor David Corenswet in the titular role, it seems as though the new universe will be paving its way and creating its own stories separate from the DCEU.

Gunn and Safran already revealed their entire Chapter 1 slate of projects for the DCU, and it is worth noting that none of the upcoming movies or TV shows seem to feature Aquaman in a major way.

This is a total bummer for Aquaman fans as well as Jason Momoa fans who loved Aquaman 2: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Aquaman 2: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is a great film. However, it is prevalent that the Amber Heard court dramas did change up a lot and there was a montage in the opening of the film where it seems Wan had to chop and scew all the scenes with heard cutting her role to a minimum of 8 lines in the entire film. Basically the bare minimum for an actor. To us, it did hurt the film, and we were not fans of the long drawn out naration of the opening explaining where Arthur is now.

Why does it always seem that studio politics rule over a film so intensly that it ruins the fabric of the films linning entirely? We felt that Warner Bros. tends to dictate too much in the overall process of the DCU and continue to ruin them because they have no clue on the DC comics. With that said, we hope that James Gunn and Peter Safran can turn the DCU mess into success, but why are they not bringing back fan favorite films like Aquaman and Wonder Woman. Both of those films have large fanbases.

Going back to the possibility of Aquaman 3, Gunn and Safran’s DCU Chapter 1 will not end for quite some time, so it will probably be a while before fans get another true Aquaman movie, and it is even less likely that it will feature Jason Momoa.
