Here are three things everyone is talking about when it comes to movie news this week. With Star Wars The Last Jedi days away, Kathleen Kennedy has her eyes set on a certain someone to direct a Star Wars movie.
Then there is the all female Ocean’s Eight, but Sandra Bullock says it’s not a reboot. Meanwhile, everyone is wondering what happened to Zack Snyder’s Superman Black Suit Scenes? Read on…
CelebNMovies247.com has the answers to all of the following questions regarding Ocean’s Eight, Superman black suit scenes, and who Kathleen Kennedy wants in the director’s seat next.
Speaking to EW, Bullock about Oceans Eight, she confirmed that she is indeed playing Danny Ocean’s sister Debbie, an ex-con.
Though, she points out the perils of doing an all-female movie after the backlash that ensued with 2016’s Ghostbusters reboot. As Bullock was careful to point out, Ocean’s Eight is not being positioned as a reboot.
Here is what Sandra Bullock said about doing an ALL-Female version of Oceans Eight:
“They did put [the Ghostbusters cast] through hell. And I’m still trying to figure out why. Forget what the final product was! There were four or five of the most talented comediennes in that film. Everyone should’ve just taken a breath and said, “let’s see what happens.” It doesn’t take just five people to make a movie. It’s pretty much like around 300. So I keep reminding everybody, if you hate my film remember there’s another 299 people all around me. We’re not a reboot. We’re just a this is what’s happening in 2017. It’s not even a passing of the torch. It’s a parallel story of another family member that was raised in the same family Danny Ocean was and what happens when Debbie steps out of jail with all of these amazing, powerful women.”
She adds:
“We got some but boy, I mean, I’ll tell you, we’ve got some feisty women that will fight right back. It’s like, let’s just take a breath and let’s just see if we come up with something fun. There should be a moratorium. There should be a rule, you’re not allowed to say anything nasty until after it comes out. Obviously that’s never going to happen.”
Now, what happened to Superman’s black suit in Justice League?
Like many savvy fans were anticipating a visual homage to the “Death of Superman” saga that film echoed. In the 1993 saga of Superman’s demise, Clark eventually returned to life sporting a striking black version of his costume. For some reason it was NOT in the Joss Wheldon version.

Another wrong done?
Well, Henry Cavill offered hints of the suit’s inclusion in Justice League, but now the studio is claiming it was not slated to be filmed. Could that have been Whedon NOT being familiar with the DC comic?
During an interview with Inverse, Justice League cinematographer Fabian Wagner confirms that the black suit was part of Snyder’s plans for the film at some point, but were among the many scenes that wound up on the cutting room floor after Whedon radically overhauled the film. It was just as we suspected, with Zack Snyder out, Joss Whedon trashed the movies with radical changes the cut the movie down to two hours leaving fans disappointed with the final cut. This is why a petition to get the original vision of Snyders on the Blu-Ray/DVD. If Joss was paying attention, most successful superhero films run around 150 to 170 minutes so all aspects are covered. Avengers: Infinity Wars run-time is somewhere around 2 hours and 30+ minutes.
Joe Russo revealed to Colider:
“The current cut is over two and a half [hours]… Most of it’s a movie you could show, but there’s still a lot of work left to be done, I still have a couple of scenes that we haven’t finished from Avengers 3 that I’m shooting in the next few months with my brother, and it’s certainly gonna be a film that lives in the two and a half hour, two and a half hour-plus range.”
Bottom line, there was no reason for Joss Whedon to cut the film down to 2 hours. And cutting Superman’s black suit is annoying.
So who is Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy have her eyes on?
It appears that Kathleen Kennedy would love for Taika Waititi to direct a Star Wars movie. Taika recently made a splash in the film-making industry with his 2017 Marvel movie, Thor: Ragnarok. Since the movie made such an impact, he’s become Hollywood’s it man, and now he’s in high demand. Thor: Ragnarok was the third and final installment in Marvel Studios’ Thor trilogy.
In an interview with Newshub, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said she would “love” for Taika Waititi to direct a Star Wars movie.
Kennedy said:
“I would love for him to direct a Star Wars movie. I think he has exactly the right sensibility. It was very exciting to see him step into the Marvel universe and do such an amazing job with Thor.”
The only thing is that Waititi was heard talking about helming a Black Widow movie in the same vein as Thor: Ragnarok. This means he’s leaning closer towards comedy than drama and inter-universe connectivity.
We will see?
