Review: Haunt is A Terrifyingly Horrific Horror Movie

Momentum Pictures, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the duo who penned last year’s breakout hit A Quiet Place, know exactly how to scare moviegoers with their new movie Haunt.

Haunt was awesome, the movie had us on the edge the whole time. You know those movies when you see a bunch of young adults doing stupid things, well this movie may seem like that but it’s not. Read on…

Haunt is actually genius because it puts the victims in a place you would never suspect to be filled with killers.

Beck and Woods combined the idea of a slasher movie with the over popular horror haunt themed scary houses along with aspects from many popular horror films and fused it all together in Haunt.

Have you ever gone into a haunted house? They can be terrifying, but this one, oh this one is no joke because there is no exit.

Haunt centers on a group of friends led by the mysterious and quiet Harper (Katie Stevens). On Halloween, this unlikely group makes their way to an extreme haunted house off the beaten path that promises to feed on their darkest fears. As the group reluctantly delves further and further into this warehouse of nightmares, things turn deadly and they must try to escape with their lives, or risk being murdered by the creepy proprietors of this perverse attraction.

Haunt is one movie you have to watch, especially if you love horror movies, I mean there were times I just couldn’t watch. This movie takes you back to those Tobe Hooper days, remember The Funhouse, a horror classic. Well, Haunt is right up there with The Funhouse if you ask us, mixed with a bit of Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton’s The Collector (one of the scariest movie franchises). Then put a splash of Saw into the mix and A Quiet Place since sound plays a big role in this movie.
Bottom line, Haunt intends to scare the living daylights out of you and it does just that. After watching the movie, we just had that what if thoughts, since we’ve done a bunch of haunted houses over the years. It is a perfect setting. Last years Hell Fest was a great movie by Seth M. Sherwood and Blair Butler, but Haunt tops that.

Haunt stars Katie Stevens, Will Brittain, Lauryn Alisa McClain, Andrew Caldwell Shazi Raja Schuyler Helford and more.

We give Haunt a 4 out of 5. It is a great scary movie.
