Before you get excited to see your favorite villains return to their forced gig as the Suicide Squad, erase everything you’ve already seen on the big screen.
This time around, since the first movie was not received well and due to scheduling some of the original cast has been replaced, Suicide Squad is now The Suicide Squad, a whole new reboot of the franchise. Read on for details…
CelebNMovies247.com reports James Gunn has already recast Idris Elba as DeadShot since Will Smith had scheduling issues and production is about to start filming in the coming months.
As for director James Gunn who has been rehired to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has indicated it will serve as a “relaunch” of the film franchise. Producer Peter Safran has now confirmed that the film is a complete reboot.
In an interview with JoBlo.com, Safran explained:
First of all, we don’t call it Suicide Squad 2 ’cause it’s a total reboot, so it’s The Suicide Squad and I think people should be extremely excited about it. It’s everything you would hope from a James Gunn script and I think that says a lot and that promises a lot and I know we will deliver a lot.
Warner Bros. is hoping that Gunn will be able to do with The Suicide Squad what he did with Guardians of the Galaxy and launch a popular and well-received series of films.
Like we said erase everything you have already seen in Suicide Squad because it has ALL CHANGED!
The Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 6, 2021.
