The next X-Men movies include an X-Force movie, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, New Mutants, and even a Gambit movie!
Fox X Men movies have a similar schedule to the Marvel Studios superhero movie schedule but not as busy. Though there are some cool films to look forward to over the next few years.
That’s if they all stay in the works after the Disney 20th Century Fox merger. Read on to get the latest on the Fox X Men movies…
CelebNMovies247.com is NOT sure if this is a cool thing yet, but with the merger, the X-Men will get to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As for the X Men movies, some of the films are nearly completed, so we’ll see at least a few new X-Men movies before the change takes effect. This means we
We’ll see at least a few new X-Men movies before the change takes effect. New Mutants and X-Men: Dark Phoenix are both in production, and more might follow soon!
We already know 2018 was NOT the year of the mutants as everyone hoped since several films got pushed back to 2019.
We can more than likely thank the Disney/ 20th Century Fox merger for that as well. Fun times.
As of now, Fox has locked up five more dates for untitled Marvel movies over the next few years. Though, it can all change once the Disney deal is finalized.
Here are the X Men release dates for 2019:
X-Men: Dark Phoenix – June 7, 2019:
We’re finally going to see the Dark Phoenix saga done justice on the big screen with X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Simon Kinberg is directing, and the core cast from the most recent trilogy of X-Men movies will return, to tell the biggest, most iconic X-Men story of them all! Let’s just hope they get it right this time.
The New Mutants – August 2, 2019
Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) is directing the New Mutants movie. Boone co-wrote the film with Knate Gawley, Scott Neustadter, and Michael H. Weber.
Finally, New Mutants will see the light at the end of the tunnel. The horror thriller mutant movie has gone through reshoots, character additions and is said to be an R Rated film according to Simon Kinberg.
X-Force – Nov. 22, 2019 (Hopeful Guess Untitled Project)
Drew Goddard is writing and directing, which is awesome news. The other cool thing is that X-Force is said to be raunchier than the Deadpool movies.
Its also said that Sinister is set to be the villain.
We’re going to first meet Cable in Deadpool 2, which will also introduce Zazie Beetz as another X-Force member, Domino. It’s possible that X-Force could essentially function as Deadpool 3 if they decide to pursue the same tone, which seems likely. You can learn more about the weird history of X-Force right here!
X Men Movie Release Dates for 2020:
Gambit – March 13, 2020:
The long awaited Gambit origin movie will finally make his debut since he was first seen back in the first Wolverine Origin film. The X-Men films are bound to find themselves in dire need of a new heroic “face of the franchise”sometime in the next five years, and Channing Tatum as Gambit might just be the answer. Hopefully, fans will take to Tatum better than they did to him in Jupiter Ascending.
What we do know is that the movie is in the works for real this time thanks to Simon Kinberg’s recent update.
Gambit’s complex backstory should provide ample fodder for a solo movie, which will apparently focus less on traditional super-heroics and more on his background as a thief. Lizzy Caplan is also on board in an unnamed role. Keep your fingers crossed for this one.
Deadpool 3 – June 26, 2020 (Hopeful Guess Untitled Project)
Of course, this is going to happen! It’s not confirmed yet, but it may as well be since we have received word that Copycat has been confirmed to star in Deadpool 3 already.
Deadpool movies make all the money, so why not keep that mutant money train rolling.
Plus, the Deadpool movies are binder films like the Silver Surfer is too the Fantastic 4.
Deadpool also serves as a lead-in for X-Force which is like the mercenary anti-heroes to Marvels Avengers which is wrapping up.
Multiple Man – Oct. 2, 2020 (Hopeful Guess Untitled Project)
You first saw Multiple Man in X Men The Last Stand in 2006.
James Franco will play Jamie Madrox, the Multiple Man. Allan Heinberg is writing a script, and there’s no sign of a director yet.
The plan is for this to be an R-rated weird superhero flick, more on the scale of Deadpool than your traditional X-Men movie.
X Men Movie Release Dates for 2021:
Silver Surfer – March 5, 2021 (Hopeful Guess Untitled Project)
We know, it’s not an X-Men movie, but it’s a Marvel property still owned by Fox. And with the merger, this film might fit right in to be a binder for the X Men franchise and MCU.
With word that The Fantastic 4 may be getting another reboot this could pose as perfect timing, but we don’t see it happening until 2021. This will be interesting since director Peyton Reed wants to direct the Fantastic 4.
The interestingly cool thing is that we’ve learned that not only is the studio developing this one, but that brilliant writer Brian K. Vaughn is working on the screenplay. Moreover, this could also fill one of those unclaimed Marvel dates.
Then there is this tidbit of Intel as Fox has these dates locked down for a group of X Men films which one will definitely be X-Force. Deadpool will be getting a third film which we have a feeling will be possible the June 26, 2020 spot. Multiple Man starring James Franco looks like it could land in 2020 on the October 2 date.
As for, Silver Surfer, Kitty Pryde it appears that they are in development, but we will see what happens after the merger.
Kitty Pryde
Tim Miller is developing a Kitty Pryde movie. Miller will direct from a script by Brian Michael Bendis. Maybe it will slot into one of those above dates…if it gets made at all.
And then there are all these mystery dates…which may not ever come to pass anyway because of the Disney deal.
